Campbell River in beautiful British Columbia, Canada is finding itself in the limelight these days not for its scenic beauty and oceanfront vistas but because of the mystery surrounding the foot that recently washed up on its shore and the others that washed up all over the shorelines of British Columbia.

But where is Campbell River?
Campbell River is located in the province of British Columbia on the west coast of Canada. It is a scenic oceanfront city on the east shore and the fourth largest city of Vancouver Island. Campbell River is nestled between the Vancouver Island Mountain range to the west and the snow-capped peaks of the Coast Mountain range to the east. Ever since I move to British Columbia, I’ve been enthralled by its natural beauty and Campbell River is no different. It is a wonderful place to visit. With a range of motels, hotel and resort accommodation, visitors can find lodging to suit their varied needs. For RV and campground lovers, the city offers amenities to those who want to experience nature at its finest and to those also requiring full-service modern amenities.

The Salmon Capital of the World
Campbell River is known to the world, and of course to many anglers and sport fishing afficionados, as the “Salmon Capital of the World“. Once an exclusive playground for the rich and famous, it now has a vibrant community with many sports fishing afficionados who come for opportunities in its bountiful fishing ground. Thanks in part to its fishing club founded almost a century ago, Campbell River has preserved its natural and bountiful fishing ground for the future generations to enjoy. While summer attracts the majority of anglers, ample opportunity for fishing is available all year round.

If you would like to attend some local events, you may want to check out the Loggers Sports held each year on the second weekend of August. It is hosted by the Campbell River Salmon Festival Society, a registered charity assisting and hosting a a wide range of public & family orientated activities held annually for the citizens of Campbell River. You may also visit the Campbell River museum which showcases the living history of the region that presents the unique coastal lifestyle and rich culture of the First Nations. Highlights include the Salmon Fishing Industry and First Nations exhibits.

For anglers and sports fishermen, British Columbia in general and Campbell River in particular are home to some of the best salmon fishing in the world. Five native species which range in size from 3 to 90+ pounds, namely Chinook or King salmon, Sockeye salmon, Pink salmon, Chum salmon and Coho salmon awaits those who would like to visit. If you’re in the mood to experience natural beauty and are gearing for some world class salmon fishing, come and visit Campbell River.

UPDATE: The sixth foot found in Campbell River was not human and appears to be a hoax, said the chief coroner’s office today. The coroner’s office chastised whoever is responsible for the hoax, calling it “reprehensible and very disrespectful for the families of missing persons.”

I’ve seen pictures of Campbell River, it is pretty. But a foot washed up? That’s crazy.

Yes, it’s kinda crazy as its the sixth foot that wash ashore all over BC. The police are kinda looking at all angles right now. Some are saying that they probably belong to victims of a plane crash in the area not too long ago.
