Yes, gossips are running around town that Britney Spears may probably take her musical talents to Broadway. The producers of the musical “Grease” are hinting heavily at the possibility of casting Britney on the musical to play the lead role of the blond good girl, “Sandra Dee“. The producers are recasting the roles in July and thought Britney is perfect as Sandy. If this is true, then this is not the first time that a celebrity like Britney will do Broadway. Other “talented” celebrities have acted on Broadway before. Celebrities from Jennifer Garner, Marisa Tomei, Richard Gere to Matthew Broderick have all made their way to the stage and gave us a chance to see their acting (or musical) stuff —with no retakes! . Even American Idol stars, Clay Aiken, Frenchie Davis and Tamyra Gray have taken the Broadway route.
Broadway refers to theatrical performances presented in one of the 39 large professional theaters with 500 seats or more located in the Theater District of New York City. In the Broadway musical “Grease”, the character Sandra Dee and the song “Look At Me, I’m Sandra Dee”, featured in it is inspired by the persona of a real life Sandra Dee. The real Sandra Dee made her first film, Until They Sail, in 1957. She won a Golden Globe Award for “Most Promising Newcomer”. She was married to Bobby Darin in 1960, at the age of 18, that kept her in the public eye for much of the decade. They had one son together, Dodd Mitchell Darin.
